Ward Churchill
It has been over one year since the infamous essay, \"Some People Push Back\", On The Justice of Roosting Chickens, hit the fan. The Denver area folks were treated to daily revelations on more information than any decent person wanted to know. Former users of LSD began to believe that the information about, \"horrible flashbacks\" was true as we revisited the, \"silly 70\'s\". Ward Churchill and disco. At least George Clinton survives.
Now we are at a crossroad. Having updated myself on the situation, it seems that the internet investigation lacks one vital component: it didn\'t, \"truth/ground\" verify. That is, in interpreting satellite and aerial photography, one can become very accurate , but not until one, \"ground-verifies\" one\'s observations.
With the Ward Churchill controversy, as much as the preliminary evidence points towards him being a, \"grifter\", as Peter Boyles repeatedly stated, or was guilty of a multitude of transgressions as typlified via a full-page ad by Caplis and Silverman, there has come the rebuttal. And now what remains? The alleged misrepresentations.
Now that the smoke has cleared, and the dust has settled down, what will the future bring? Despite all of the allegations, the judgement for the near future is in the hands of the Committee. None of the other alleged transgressions of Ward have any weight.
So we wait. So why has it boiled down to just the committee? My best guess from afar is that none of his detractors (nor his supporters) has, \"truth-verified\" Ward. Ward is a creation of the internet. He is known to his detractors from the internet and cable TV, but not much else. Since no one dug further into Ward, his detractors in AIM became hot sources. And lacked credibility.
So Ward is in the driver\'s seat. Has Caplis and Silverman/ Boyles over a barrel. But wait? What about the Kelley\'s? Why, they are not affiliated with NAIM. What about them? The little people. After all, Ward is a champion of the little people. Right? Well, so long as they are useful to his meanderings in thought. Then, they just disappear. Like the Kelleys. His ex-wives. Ex-friends.
The path to knowing more about Ward starts in Chicago. No one has done the footwork. Until now.
Perhaps I will meet up with the real Ward Churchill in 1-2 years. Who knows. But I will find out more about him than is known.
